Personal Statement
After I graduated I received placement from the British Council to teach at No. 42 High School in Tianjin where I currently teach English. Although my time teaching with the school is not yet completed I feel that I have already learnt a great deal about what it takes to be a teacher as well as learning a lot about Chinese culture.
Since I arrived in Tianjin to teach I feel like I have made strong relationships with the students and staff at my school. This semester I teach evening classes twice a week with some of the Chinese teachers in my school to help them with their spoken English. I find these lessons particularly enjoyable and feel that the teachers gain a great deal from my lessons.
Living and teaching in China has proved to be a very steep learning curve but after a short time I feel that I have grown into the experience and made it my own. This year has been a wonderful experience and as it is still not yet over I know there will be much more to enjoy. On this note I feel that I am not yet ready to leave China, and so I would like to continue teaching English for another year. |
