  Job Experience

 1999-1999  New Horizons. Job Coach 

I was a Job Coach for the mentally handicapped. Duties included: accompanied workers to and from their jobs. Supervised workers and made sure they were being treated fairly and with respect. Guided workers when they did not understand their job duties.

 1999-2000  Little Acers. Childcare

I worked in the after school care program as a teaching assistant for children ages 4-6. Duties included: providing snack time, leading arts and craft sessions, stories or music time. Children were then allowed to play outside. Cleaning and organizing the room up after the children went home. I also worked with children ages 18 months to 2 years. The duties included changing diapers as well as more playing with and socializing the children to play with each other.

2000-2000  Dahlonega Day care. Childcare

I worked as a child care provider for children ages 4-5. Activities included arts, crafts, reading, music as well as indoor and outdoor play. I worked with children ages 6-12 in the afternoons once school was out. The older children were helped with their homework, given snacks and then had structured activities and play time until their parents arrived. I cleaned and organized the room after the children went home. 

 

2000 to 2000  Gold City. Caregiver

I worked a Care Tech for the elderly. My main duties included feeding patients, giving baths and showers, doing scheduled rounds /changing diapers and bed sheets. Soon after I began working, I was expected to take a leadership role to help teach new employees. There was a high turn over rate and the facility was short staffed.

 2002 to 2003  Peachtree Plantation. Caregiver

I worked as a care tech in an assisted living facility. I mostly worked with Alzheimer’s patients. My duties included making rounds and checking on patients as well as changing diapers and bed sheets. I also had to get residents dressed in the mornings, provided first aide and C.P.R. when necessary, doing laundry and other cleaning, bathing and feeding patients.


2003 to 2003  Tara Plantation. Caregiver

I worked as a care Tech in an assisted living facility. I mostly worked with Alzheimer’s patients. My duties included making rounds, checking on patients as well as changing diapers and bed sheets.

                     

2003 to 2003  Forsyth County DFCS. Intern

I completed an internship with the Forsyth County Department of Family and Children Services.  I received an A in the class. Dr. Steve Noble of NGCSU supervised my internship, as well as Chris Smith who was a director of DFCS at the time. I enjoyed the experience and it has influenced me to become more of an advocate for human rites and to help others. I was allowed to go out with investigators as well as ongoing case workers. I was allowed to go to watch the court proceedings as well as forensic interviews. I was allowed to supervise the child visitation and help look after the children if the caseworkers were busy. Towards the end I was allowed to take intake calls as well as do follow up interviews with witnesses. I was allowed to check up on kids at school to see how things were going then report my findings back to the caseworkers.

I managed the Cumming and Dawsonville offices. My duties included faxing, answering phones, organizing files, scheduling appointments, administering drug screens, composing letters and certificates and contacting other agencies about the client’s progress in our programs.

 

2004 to 2004  Nova Group. Conversational English Teacher

I had a full time teaching position in Japan. I taught adult classes with up to 4 students. These students ranged in age from 16-60’s. There were voice groups where I lead discussions. The voice groups ranged in size, from as few as one to as many as 15. I had 2 classes of Kinders (ages 3-5) and 2 classes of Juniors (ages 6-8). Most of the time was spent giving lessons and other time was spent planning lessons and maintaining student’s progress in their files.

 

2005 to 2005  Dollar General. Asst. Mgr.

I was the Assistant Manager of the Cumming store. My duties included supervision of up to 7 employees. I also ran the register, handled the cash pickups, trips to the bank, and assisted the other cashier. I had to restock the shelves when shipments were received, receive shipments and count with vendors, handle customer service and problems along with returns and voids. Count damages, store counts and ordering.

 

2005 to 2006   Private Nanny.

I cared for 4 children (ages 11mo, 18mo, 2.5y, and 4.5y). One child was diagnosed as autistic and requires special medical treatment, specific diet, therapy and activities. My duties include feeding, playing, teaching, arts and crafts, supervising play, preparing meals, and cleaning/changing the children.

 

2006/Present   Hall County DFCS. Social Services Case Mgr.

I am a Social Services Case Manager. I was in investigations for about 1.5 years. During that time my duties were to conduct effective investigations and risk assessments of children. Case Managers investigate and determine the degree of risk to children and level of intervention needed to ensure child safety. I completed assessments as required by state policy, maintained accurate records to document case activities, spent time in court when children were removed or for other reasons.  I had to respond promptly during on-call/ after hour cases and assignments.  I had to utilize community partnerships and other resources to provide clients with supportive and emergency services. I am knowledgeable about current and emerging demographic and cultural changes to assist/respond effectively.

 

I have been doing intake for the last 3.5 years. My duties as an intake worker are to accept allegations of child abuse and or neglect from callers by obtaining required information form callers or visitors. I write concise, accurate and organized reports and correspondence according to established procedures. I make the initial determination of need for emergency response and notify the supervisor for review and assignment of cases. I explain confidentiality and processing procedures, screen records for previous information/files on involved parties and complete required recording of new case information. I make collateral contacts as needed to gather additional information.
