This course has given me a better understanding of public relations as a whole, marketing and also public affairs within the European Union through lectures and tutorials within these modules.
Also it has improved my presentation skills as all modules have some form of student presentations within tutorials which also involve teamwork. In addition my report writing skills have been developed through assessed coursework requiring me to do reports to professional standards and layout.
2003 – 2007 2:2 BA (Hons) Politics and Management at The Robert Gordon University Aberdeen
Honours Year Modules: Semester 1: Police and Society, Political Participation and Pressure groups in an age of global politics, Management of Change 1
Semester 2: Criminal Psychology, Political Communication, Management of Change 2.
In third year I was involved in a major teamwork exercise as part of a module that required us to meet regularly and to meet set targets and deadlines. In the end I was setting the meetings and generally leading the group to meet the goals and we achieved a high mark.
It has also improved my research skills as I needed to look and many different sources and types of information in order to complete my dissertation and also to be able to critically analyse the information and to decide whether it is relevant or not.

Work Experience
2008 – Present Guest Assistant at Vue Cinema Aberdeen
Responsibilities: Achieving high levels of customer service and cleanliness through performing tasks like serving customers and cleaning screens.
This has improved my independent working as most of the time I am left to work without supervision and I need to make decisions on what to do and when to do it.
Also it has helped my communication skills as I constantly need to deal with different types of people on a daily basis and need to be adaptable in my communication in order to communicate properly with them.
2009 – 4 week Work Experience at Anne Begg MP for Aberdeen South
Responsibilities: work shadowing the researcher responsible for communication and providing support to Anne Begg MP in delivering service to her constituents
2002 – 2008 Floor Manager in McDonalds Restaurants Aberdeen
Major Responsibilities:
Working as part of a management team and communicating well with the other managers to achieve the restaurant’s goals. This has developed my communication skills and also has helped me to work better as a part of a team.
Co-ordinating staff and ensuring that procedures are being followed.
Dealing with any customer complaints.
Training new workers on all aspects of the restaurant.
