Teaching experience Early Childhood Centre: For the 2010 winter season I worked as a teacher at the Ski Kindy at Cardrona Ski Resort in Wanaka, Nz. It is a licensed early childhood centre for 2.5 - 5 year olds. I also helped out with the infants in the Nursery. I was involved in planning and assessment using the NZ Te Whariki curriculum. Each day I worked in a team to plan the day, prepare meals, read stories, sing songs, play educational games, stop tears, change nappies, make crafts, play in the snow, and clean. I ensured that every child felt safe to be left with us, and experienced a happy, fun day at Ski Kindy. Cruise ships: Throughout 2008-2010 I worked seasonal contracts as a youth councilor for P&O Australia. This job involved working in any of the three centres onboard, with children aged 3 to 17 years. I enthusiastically involved all children in fun, safe, exciting activities including discos, arts & crafts, face painting, board games, sports, and talent shows. I was also required to perform in shows, teach educational programmes, and create an enjoyable holiday experience. Relief Teacher: I have worked as a primary school relief teacher over the past six years. I really enjoy the work, finding it fun and challenging, and have learned many new skills. I have successfully developed behavioral management techniques, and have built up resources to cater to all levels and varieties of classrooms to teach a fun, and educational day. Canada: During 2009 I lived in Vancouver, Canada. I worked as a lunch-time supervisor at an Elementary School making sure children ate their lunches appropriately and were playing safely and cooperatively in the playground. I also worked at a child-care centre looking after 5 and 6 year olds before and after school. The teaching involved a montessori approach where children would choose their own activities to further their learning. I was approachable and communicated with parents to keep them informed of their children's achievements. Korea: In 2007 I taught English to elementary aged children in Korea. I taught for 7 months at an academy. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience which immersed me in a new country, language and culture. It required adapting to new situations, embracing a different culture, responsibilities, motivation, enthusiasm and independence.
