Zheijiang Fuyang Yongxing School 2010-2011
Grade 9, middle school teacher: Taught 14 separate classes a week, teaching oral English, grammar and new vocabulary. Taught large classes of between 55-70; taking time to learn students’ names and assembling lesson plans to teach to a variety of different skill levels.
Skills gained: Patience, maturity and diplomacy were all skills used on a daily basis.
CCDPublic Relations 2010
PR Internship: Assisting the Public Affairs team with research and administrative support within a leading PR agency. Activities ranged from media monitoring, drafting briefings and biographies, researching issues and sectors for new business opportunities and assisting with events.
Skills gained: Well developed communication skills and the ability to quickly comprehend specific market places and situations.
Eton College Visits Department 2006-2010
Sales & Marketing Assistant: Assisted in running the Visits Department by planning and overseeing tours as well as managing staff in the manager’s absence, dealing with suppliers, running the gift shop, photographing and copywriting for an online store and running promotional marketing and public relations for the College.
Tour Guide: Supervised visitors, guiding VIP’s, foreign and UK school parties, heritage groups and film crews, answering their questions and ensuring they had a fun and informative visit.
Sales Assistant: Selling items to visitors as well as entry tickets and answering questions and ensuring that the premises are locked at the end of the day.
These jobs involve delivering a consistently high level of service to customers, whilst duties involve stock taking, receiving and checking deliveries, cash handling and office work such as filing, emailing, faxing, making phone calls and attending meetings.
Skills gained: Tact and diplomacy, knowledge of health and safety regulations, the ability to multitask, experience of working in a large and complex organization.
Cam Ladore Philadelphia 2008
Senior Camp Counsellor: Selected as a Counsellor for an underprivileged camp for youths from Philadelphia, USA. Duties included directly looking after groups of disadvantaged campers from difficult backgrounds. I was in charge of running and organising activities, often assuming the role of mentor, whilst ensuring that I utilised organisational skills to co-ordinate the youngsters, making sure that they arrived at designated places on time and with the appropriate clothing. A sense of humour, and the ability to work as part of a team was a pre-requisite of the job.
Skills gained: Self motivation, effective time management, patience and a respect for diverse background and excellent time keeping skills. |
