Profile I have recently returned to Scotland to finish my degree in Philosophy at Glasgow
University after spending the past year living and working in China as a teacher of
English. Over this next year I am hoping to not only finish my degree but improve my
grasp of the Chinese language further.

As a teacher I had a lot of responsibility. I had to make sure that I was fully prepared for
every day with a detailed and organised lesson plan for each class that would ensure that
the children were meeting the schools goals but also my own goals for them in
pronunciation and fluency. It was a very challenging, although rewarding job, which required
a lot of patience and care as well enthusiasm since the students would not be engaged in
the class and enjoying it unless I was.
In February I also worked with the same organization with their new teaching intake. This
involved getting the new teachers settled into life in China and helping them where they
needed assistance, particularly with the language barrier.

While working at Impulse Music I had various responsibilities. Mainly I had to make sure all
of the stock was organized and arranged properly in alphabetical order and also to serve
customers. On top of this I would have to cash up at the end of the day when I was closing
the shop as well as occasionally open up the shop and do stock checks and price changes
twice a month.
