I am professional and organised, giving an excellent impression of myself and my employers. I am used to working in a high pressure environment and can bring this experience to the classroom. I am enthusiastic and motivated to teach students of all standards to the best of my ability. I am embarking on this career later in life than some, however, I hope this reflects my determination and passion to succeed and to bring some excellent practices to the classroom, so that students enjoy their learning experience.

Work Experience
Self-employed vehicle distributor December 2010 ‡° present. Arranging the delivery and collection of fleet vehicles for companies throughout the UK, liaising with clients, working independently, being responsible for organising my time, working to deadlines and providing excellent customer service.
Security Officer March 2008 ‡° November 2010 I have worked in various sectors of the security industry, such as industrial premises, retail, licensed premises and commercial premises. Duties have included securing premises, uniformed patrols, CCTV monitoring, reporting to police, lone working and as part of a team over a varying shift pattern.
Driving Instructor November 2006 ‡° March 2008 I taught students of all driving abilities, from novice to refresher lessons. I used visual aids, demonstrations and explanations in my teaching, mixed with some humour, in order to make my students relaxed and at ease. I was self-employed.
Police Officer September 1990 ‡° November 2006 General Police duties, from foot and mobile patrols, to working in Retail Crime, Autocrime, Criminal Investigation, Control Room and Community policing. This was a highly stressful role, often involving confrontations and working very unsociable hours. I had to be well organised, display common sense and a professional attitude at all times, develop good decision making, be an excellent oral and written communicator and be able to work with a wide range of colleagues. I left the profession to begin my own business as a Driving Instructor.
Interests
Sports such as squash, badminton, football, swimming, gym and running ‡° I have completed four half-marathons. I enjoy travel and lived in New Zealand for nine months (1999-2000) and in Greece (1995) for three. I like to experience new cultures and their history and adapt very quickly to new surroundings. Other interests include studying languages, walking, current affairs, world cinema and music and reading biographies. |
