This is a job I have held for the past three summers and every year I have been asked back and given a higher wage, titles, and benefits. I started out as a conference assistant making beds and cleaning, and moved to customer service. On the customer service side I answered phones, dealt with clients, filled out paperwork, handled and resolved conflicts. I was the go-between for my supervisors and the other employees. In the past year, I was given a promotion and the title of Night Auditor which is one of the few leadership opportunities for student workers, and I was a supervisor in charge of 200 students. When the job ended this year, my supervisor asked me to return next year and offered me a higher title and wage. In this internship I worked closely with a TV producer and helped write and manage a daily news show for a large Tucson TV station. As an intern I wrote the news stories under the supervision of the producer and I edited news reports. I also called contacts and worked with local government and public safety officials to find news. | |
