Personal profile
I feel that my time at university studying and attending clinical placements has provided me with the ability to understand and convey complex ideas to others through strong communication skills and the rigour to seek and obtain the highest possible standards can be applied to many roles.
My previous teaching experiences have left me with a great sense of satisfaction and reward in knowing that I have made an impact and a difference on the lives of others. I believe genuine care and a thirst to impart further knowledge onto others is the key to success.
Before, during and after university I have travelled many different countries within Europe, Asia and Africa as a result of this I have been greatly inspired and experienced a great sense of self development as a direct consequence of interacting with the many different types of communities and cultures I have had the privilege of encountering.

Work Experience
March 2011- Present: Foreign Language School Attached To Sun Yat-Sen University (Nanhai)
At this school I teach English to children from the ages of 2-10 years old. During my time teaching here I have managed to acquire the ability to teach children through many different creative techniques including, music, games and drama in a confident and effective manner. Asides from my classroom duties I also have the responsibility of training the English teachers for several hours on a weekly basis and organising an English corner for the entire kindergarten twice a week.
January 2011- Present: Sugar’s English Training Centre (Foshan City)
Every week I plan and hold an English corner for children aged 4-10 years old, consisting of a class of up to 45 students. This position relies on me to use my imagination to establish new themes and topics as I am required to follow my own curriculum. This role has also enabled me to develop an innovative and confident approach to teaching in order to attain and maintain the attentions of all age groups present.
October 2009- September 2010: Student Ambassador
My role was to work with groups of pupils and to offer advice and guidance about higher education. This involved taking tours around the university or going out to various schools and colleges to do workshops with the young people. We worked with all different age groups ranging from six all the way up until seventeen trying to raise the aspirations of young people.
September 2007- January 2010: Rugby Tavern, The Up and Under and The Cabbage Patch (public houses)
The main responsibilities required at these establishments were working behind the bar, handling cash and counting tills, preparing pub displays for main events, opening and locking up before and after shifts. From these experiences I have gained further customer service skills and learnt how to manage a number of situations in a tactful manner.
January 2005-September 2007: Woodford Green Youth Centre (Volunteer Teaching)
Whilst working at the youth centre I tutored 11-18 year olds both academic and non-academic subjects. During this period I would sometimes encounter difficult and challenging individuals which as a result encouraged me to develop a number of flexible approaches in order to reach specific individual needs in order to allow the possibility of success for all. |
