WORK EXPERIENCE:
I have been living and working in Nanjing, China since September 2011. I am currently teaching both adults and children between 4-16 years of age for a language school as well as teaching English for a Middle School in the city. Prior to this I was living and teaching in Spain for 5 years. I was contracted to the Spanish Army and taught military soldiers who needed to improve their level in order to go on missions to Kosovo, Afghanistan, Congo and Bosnia. I also taught private classes in the evenings to adults and high school children.

My duties include teaching English to children between 4-16 years of age. I plan all of my own lessons using the Internet and material available to me in the office. We also use several books such as Trailblazers, High Flyers and Real English. I also teach adults Business English in the evening.

I teach 13 and 14 year old students here on Thursday and Friday afternoons. There are around 40 students per class and my job is to improve their English through games, role plays, presentations and doing listening and observation exercises. I plan my own lessons and use my own material for each class.

My role here was to teach Spanish Soldiers English to prepare them for their missions abroad. I taught Military topics using a book called Campaign and also standard English using a book called New English File. I was also involved in producing exams and sitting on the Tribunal board to assess and grade their level prior to them leaving for missions.

I taught Business English to students of different sectors but predominantly to lawyers, Architects and Economists. I used my own material for my lesson plans but also supplemented this with books such as Market Leader, Headway and International express.

I worked for Vaughan Systems for just over a year and was trained in their own “Vaughan Method” which is extremely well known and successful in Spain. I taught Business English and also taught many different Summer Camps to children between the ages of 11-16. My job on the Summer Camps was to teach using games, sports and music.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
I play and watch many sports including golf, football, snooker and darts. I am a huge follower of Liverpool FC and when I was living in Spain I was an Atletico Madrid season ticket holder for 3 years. I love travelling and have visited 12 countries in Asia and Europe and my other hobbies include listening to music, relaxing watching a movie and I love cooking food from around the world. |
