Objectives

I am a 29 year old English University graduate wanting to fulfill my ambition of teaching English to foreign students. I am currently travelling in Asia and have fallen in love with China and wish to find a teaching role here to start as soon as possible. I am an energetic, confident and outgoing person who enjoys interacting with people from all cultures. I’m hard working, punctual and a fast learner who is always willing to give all my effort to the task at hand. I gain a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from helping people, teaching people and helping others develop new skills as well developing new skills myself. I enjoy learning about new cultures and gain a great deal from academia and would relish the opportunity to start a career teaching in China, and a chance to learn the local language(s).

Experience

Community Support Worker (15.02.2010 – 06-01-2012)

Lancashire County Council (SRDS, Adjacent to Crossways, West Paddock, Leyland, Lancashire, England)

My job here involved teaching adults with learning disabilities life skills, assisting them with reading and writing, engaging in activities such as sports, painting, drawing, crafts and social clubs. I also helped people to book and attend appointments and supported them with all personal care needs. I ensured their wellbeing, health, dignity and happiness whilst at all times promoting individuality and allowing them to develop confidence and skills that enable them to live full lives. During this role I have had to uphold confidentiality and privacy rules and regulations by adhering to the Data Protection Act, and work through many forms of communication barriers due to language, ability and challenging behaviours. As well as ensuring that I communicated in a clear and positive manner, I had to employ communication tools such as flash cards, visual aids, games and by employing the help of speech and language therapists. Part of my role was to dispense and administer medication and basic first aid to ensure the health and wellbeing of those in my care and to follow their specific needs.
