Objective
It is my mission to create a positive and friendly learning environment that will promote students’ intrinsic learning of the English language. Through diligent practice of pronunciation, grammar, and diction I will ensure that students learn to speak, read and write proper and fluent American English, as well as shed a light onto American culture.
Experience
Personal Trainer 2009/06/01 – 2011/08/31
· As a personal trainer for SNAP fitness I provided clients with top tier instruction and training in order to help them meet their various physical goals from building muscle and losing fat, to increasing functional strength and agility for improving athletic performance. During this time I specialized in training young athletes (high school and collegiate level) in a group setting.
English Language Tutor 2010/03/01 – 2010/07/31
· At home tutor for a Chinese middle school student of Korean descent. Worked extensively in verbal and written communication focusing on pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Promoted the use of the current American vernacular and a deeper understanding of American culture.
Gym Manager 2009/05/01 – 2009/08/31
· As the manager of SNAP Fitness I controlled all things related to the gym, its equipment and members. Working extensively in the sale of memberships to new clients, billing and customer service to existing clients, and creating a clean, safe and positive atmosphere within the gym; I increased SNAP Fitness’ overall membership and revenue during my time as manager, leaving only to continue my studies as an undergraduate college student.
Head Karate Instructor 2003/09/01 – 2005/05/31
· Head instructor of Ingram’s Pro Karate Center responsible for creating lesson plans, managing assistant instructors and teaching all classes. Classes taught covered all age groups and experience levels, from beginners to advanced students, and from children age 4 to adults. Classes focused on stretching, strength training and conditioning, as well as the teaching of the traditional Okinawan martial art Isshin-ryu Karate-do. All classes were conducted in a professional manner, which fostered respect, discipline, and humility in both students and teachers.

· Assisted head instructor in all aspects of teaching classes, often times working individually with small groups to give them additional instruction and attention.

Graduated Cum Laude in the spring of 2011 from the Florida State University with double majors in International Affairs and East Asian Languages and Cultures with a focus in China, Chinese Language and Chinese Culture.
Chinese Language Study
· 2011-2012 Took advanced Chinese classes at Nankai University
· 2009-2010 One year studying Chinese language at the prestigious Nankai University in Tianjin China. Received award for outstanding academic achievements.
· 2008, two months of intensive Chinese language classes at Tianjin Foreign Studies University

Skills
My leadership and communication skills have served me well in both my education and past employment. My 10 plus years of teaching experience has prepared me for any classroom or teaching situation. I work well and connect with students of all ages, making classes exciting and effective in order to best instill the knowledge that the students need to learn. Whatever the subject matter I come prepared with a lesson plan, but I am flexible enough to make necessary changes in order to best fit the teaching situation and meet the students’ needs. |
