WORK EXPERIENCE
Global IELTS English Training School, Yangzhou, China. Sept 2011 – Sept 2012
In September 2012 I will complete a one year contract teaching English to learners of all ages. During my time at Global IELTS I taught a wide range of classes, teaching students of all ages and levels, from specialised classes for kindergarten students right up to tailor made 'Business English' classes for adult learners. I also taught 'one to one' lessons for those learners who wanted lessons tailored to their specific needs.
Stem Ambassador, Hull, UK March 2010 July 2011
Volunteering as a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Ambassador gave me a chance to promote my skills to young learners, actively encouraging them to enjoy STEM subjects, and informing them about the unique career opportunities that are available to them. It developed my classroom experience as I helped perform lessons to students which resulted in getting them interested in different aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
ASDA, Wigan & Hull, UK May 2006 July 2011
As an employee at ASDA, I served customers on the delicatessen counter and at the checkouts. I created a friendly welcoming atmosphere, I provided information and advice to customers on what the best products for their needs were, if asked and made sure my department was clean, tidy and safe and that the stock was fully replenished. Due to this I have a friendly and professional manner, an ability to listen to needs and appreciate the importance of working in a team.
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, Hull, UK March 2010 June 2010
As a Volunteer at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, I participated in the ACE project and worked alongside action for children. This project involved creating opportunities for young carers to enjoy much deserved days out away from their caring responsibilities. This project helped hone my organisational skills, team working skills and built my confidence when working with children. The energy, enthusiasm and commitment I demonstrated while participating in this project resulted in winning a youth volunteer award from the Hull community and voluntary services in the 'made a difference' category.
INTERESTS
I take a keen interest in volunteer work and have participated in more than one volunteering project. I will always be keen to volunteer my time to good causes in the community I am part of. I also have an eager interest in musical theatre both theoretical and practical and have taken part in drama productions.
