With influences ranging from history and politics to economics and sociology I have developed a lens through which to interpret and evaluate many of the contemporary processes shaping the world from an invaluable international perspective. High levels of competency in both literary and numeracy analysis were fundamental, allowing a comprehensive understanding of studied phenomena. My main academic interests included economic development in sub-Saharan Africa, the dynamics of world cities and contemporary geopolitics.

3-day (25 hour) Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Course
An introductory course that outlined the fundamental principles of teaching English as a Foreign language. Gained a crucial understanding of lesson structuring, implementation and how to tailor teaching to age and abilities of students. Understanding the basics of a range of teaching types from business teaching to phonetics has given me the knowledge to approach all teaching with confidence.

- Primarily working as a news reporter for radio and TV station based in Mbale and covering Eastern Uganda.
- Adapted to a challenging, new working environment through immersion into local culture.
BBC World Service Radio, London, UK (Dec 11)
- Working on the globally broadcast ‘World Today’ radio show, my role incorporated all stages of story production, from initial research to determining interviewees and questions, briefing the presenters and editing.
- Stories worked upon were truly global in nature, including, amongst others, the Durban climate talks, European Union summit, African Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, Philippines floods and the DRC elections.
- A thorough understanding of each story was necessary to identify and approach the most suitable interviewees, many of whom were leading politicians, business leaders and commentators.
Direct Camping, Saint Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France (Jun- Sep 11)
- Solely responsible for upkeep and maintenance of holiday accommodation creating a high pressure and unpredictable working environment.
- Considerable versatility was necessary to adapt to French working practices and the language challenges.
UCL Advances Enterprise Bootcamp (Jun 10)
- A three-day workshop presenting the fundamentals of the modern business world. The workshop culminated in a 15-minute group presentation given to the group based upon a morning of discussion and problem solving.
- Presentations of business skills ranging from theories of motivation to basics of accounting.

- Operated within an ever changing and international team of colleagues at this busy pub/restaurant.

Kigali International Peace Half Marathon (May 12)
- Completed race to help raise funds for ongoing social advancement projects within Rwanda.
UCL Football Society Clubman of the Year (May 11)
- Received in acknowledgement of continual effort and commitment to the football club throughout 3 years at university in a social, organisational and sporting sense.
UCL Football Society Tour Secretary (Sep 10-June 11)
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of a football tour to The Netherlands for 50 students. The role entailed substantial research, appreciation of financial limitations and time management.
UCL 2nd XI Football Team Captain (Sep 09 – 10)
- Led the team to an all time high league position whilst responsible for team selection, training sessions and various organisational roles. The role developed leadership and team working skills amongst a diverse group.
